Privacy Policy
Last updated: 22 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Individual Entrepreneur Shota Topchishvili (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Carnix mobile application and related services (the “App”). By using the App you agree to the practices described here.
1. Who we are
Carnix is an OBD-II vehicle diagnostics app operated by Individual Entrepreneur Shota Topchishvili, registered in Georgia. For any privacy question you can reach us at support@carnixapp.com.
2. Information we collect
We collect only what the App needs to function:
- Vehicle & diagnostic data. When you connect an ELM327 OBD-II adapter, the App reads data from your vehicle’s computer, including the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), freeze-frame snapshots, live sensor readings (PIDs), and performance-run measurements. This data originates from your car, not from you personally.
- Diagnostic history. Scans, sessions, and connection events you save are stored so you can review a vehicle over time. Where sync is enabled, this history is associated with your device or account.
- Purchase & subscription data. When you buy a subscription, the App Store or Google Play processes the payment and provides us with a transaction receipt and subscription status. We never receive your full card number.
- Device & technical data. Device model, operating system version, app version, language, and diagnostic/crash logs used to keep the App stable and secure.
- Support communications. If you email us, we keep your message and contact details to respond.
We do not collect precise background location, contacts, photos, or microphone data. GPS is not required for diagnostics.
3. How we use information
- To read, decode, and display your vehicle’s diagnostic data.
- To generate plain-language explanations, likely causes, and suggested fixes for fault codes.
- To save and sync your diagnostic history across sessions.
- To manage subscriptions, entitlements, and per-vehicle licensing.
- To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
- To maintain security, prevent fraud and abuse, fix bugs, and improve the App.
- To comply with legal obligations.
4. AI-assisted explanations
Some features send fault codes and related non-personal vehicle data to a third-party AI provider through our secure server in order to generate readable explanations and repair guidance. We do not send your name or payment details for this purpose. Requests are transmitted over encrypted connections and are not used to identify you.
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers who help us operate the App, and only as needed:
- Apple App Store / Google Play — payment processing and subscription management.
- Cloud hosting & sync providers — to store and synchronize your diagnostic history.
- AI provider — to generate fault-code explanations (see Section 4).
- Analytics & crash-reporting providers — to understand stability and usage in aggregate.
- Legal authorities — where required by law or to protect our rights and users’ safety.
6. Data retention
We keep diagnostic history and account data for as long as you use the App or until you delete it. Purchase records are retained as required for tax and accounting purposes. You may request deletion at any time (see Section 8).
7. Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls, and reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, email support@carnixapp.com. You can also delete locally stored data by removing the App from your device.
9. Children
Carnix is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. International transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including where our service providers operate. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, by an in-app notice. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
