Privacy Policy

Last updated: 19 October 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Estate Group LLC (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Carnix mobile application and related services (the “App”). By using the App you agree to the practices described here.

1. Who we are

Carnix is an OBD-II vehicle diagnostics app operated by Estate Group LLC, registered in Georgia. For any privacy question you can reach us at support@carnixapp.com.

2. Information we collect

We collect only what the App needs to function:

  • Vehicle & diagnostic data. When you connect an ELM327 OBD-II adapter, the App reads data from your vehicle’s computer, including the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), freeze-frame snapshots, live sensor readings (PIDs), and performance-run measurements. This data originates from your car, not from you personally.
  • Diagnostic history. Scans, sessions, and connection events you save are stored so you can review a vehicle over time. Where sync is enabled, this history is associated with your device or account.
  • Purchase & subscription data. When you buy a subscription on iOS, the App Store processes the payment and provides us with a transaction receipt and subscription status. On Android, our payment provider Flitt processes the card payment and gives us the payment result and a token that lets us charge the same card at renewal. We never receive your full card number.
  • Phone number. When you buy a subscription on Android or order an adapter, you confirm a phone number with a one-time SMS code. We keep the number with your subscription or order: it is how a plan is restored on a new phone, and how we reach you about a delivery.
  • Adapter orders. If you order an adapter, we keep the name, delivery address, and phone number you give us to deliver it, along with the order and its payment status.
  • A device identifier. When the App first contacts our server it sends a random identifier created on your device at install time. It identifies the installation, not you, and it is what lets our server issue the access token the App uses. We keep it while the installation is known to us.
  • Approximate location, once, at first launch. So the App opens in a sensible language, it takes a single low-accuracy position reading and asks a third-party geocoding service (BigDataCloud) which country it falls in. Only the country is returned, we do not store the coordinates, and the App works normally if you decline the permission. This is the only time location leaves your device.
  • Support communications. If you email us, we keep your message and contact details to respond.

We do not collect background location, contacts, photos, or microphone data. GPS is not required for diagnostics. Performance runs (0–60, dyno estimates) use GPS and the barometer while you drive, and that data is computed and kept on your device — it is not sent to us. The only location that leaves your device is the one-time country lookup described above.

3. How we use information

  • To read, decode, and display your vehicle’s diagnostic data.
  • To generate plain-language explanations, likely causes, and suggested fixes for fault codes.
  • To save and sync your diagnostic history across sessions.
  • To manage subscriptions, entitlements, and per-vehicle licensing.
  • To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
  • To maintain security, prevent fraud and abuse, fix bugs, and improve the App.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

4. AI-assisted explanations

Some features send fault codes and related non-personal vehicle data to a third-party AI provider through our secure server in order to generate readable explanations and repair guidance. We do not send your name or payment details for this purpose. Requests are transmitted over encrypted connections and are not used to identify you.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers who help us operate the App, and only as needed:

  • Apple App Store — payment processing and subscription management on iOS.
  • Flitt — payment processing (card, Apple Pay, Google Pay) for Android subscriptions and adapter orders, including storing the card used for renewals.
  • sender.ge — delivers SMS verification codes; receives your phone number and the code.
  • Cloud hosting & sync providers — to store and synchronize your diagnostic history.
  • Google (Gemini API) — to generate fault-code explanations (see Section 4).
  • BigDataCloud — receives one approximate coordinate at first launch and returns the country used to pick your language (see Section 2).
  • RevenueCat — manages and verifies App Store subscription entitlements on our behalf.
  • Legal authorities — where required by law or to protect our rights and users’ safety.

Carnix contains no analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

6. Data retention

We keep diagnostic history and account data for as long as you use the App or until you delete it. Purchase records are retained as required for tax and accounting purposes. You may request deletion at any time (see Section 8).

7. Security

We use encryption in transit, access controls, and reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, email support@carnixapp.com. You can also delete locally stored data by removing the App from your device.

9. Children

Carnix is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. International transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including where our service providers operate. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, by an in-app notice. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
